The Westport Police Department was contacted at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 18, by the Metropolitan Transit Authority, requesting assistance with their investigation, which was launched in response to a complaint that was phoned into MTA Police in conjunction with the Amtrak Police Department, as the threat involved one of the organization’s trains.
Police said that the investigation necessitated a temporary closure of the Greens Farms station to vehicular and pedestrian traffic. Based on information ascertained during the investigation, the area was officially re-opened to traffic at approximately 9:15.
The nature of the complaint that was phoned into police was not immediately released by police.
According to police, at this time there is no on-going threat to public safety or cause for any further concern relative to this matter.
